Your First Session
In the first session you and I will establish your needs and wants as well as goals for our work together. From that basis, I will form a fluid treatment plan, which may change as our counselling progresses. I have found counselling to be most effective if we work collaboratively.

There are no guarantees of what you will experience. Counselling is a personal exploration and may lead to major changes in your life perspectives and decisions. Together we will work to achieve the best possible results for you. If you have any questions about my procedures, we can discuss them whenever they arise.
THERAPY CAN TAKE MANY DIFFERENT FORMS
I approach it from an integrative perspective using modalities such as Client-Centered, Psychodynamic, Ego State, Structural Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral (EMDR & DBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Solution-Focused therapies. Techniques can also include active listening, reframing, identifying irrational/rational beliefs, parts identification and reintegration, homework, psycho-educational discussions, role-playing, empty chair, as well as creative therapies.

My perspective starts with the point-of-view that you are not the problem, you are not your pain. I believe that clients have the capacity and resilience to resolve their own problems and make their own decisions to effect positive change in their lives. However, from time to time all of us need assistance, support, and direction.
